Public consultation on the EU product liability directive

Runs until 10.01.2022

The EU Commission launched a public consultation on the rules for compensation of damages caused by defective products on 19.10.2021.

A particular focus is on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in products and services. The Commission invites stakeholders and citizens to comment on the revision of the Product Liability Directive and whether Member States' laws and regulations on liability for defective products still provide sufficient legal certainty and consumer protection in the age of smart and AI-based products and services.

The consultation will run until January 10, 2022.
