On April 18, 2024, the EU Commission published the new Guide to the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC as Edition 2.3 on its website. The Guide replaces Edition 2.2.
A brief comparison
- At 442 pages, the new guide is slightly shorter than its predecessor of 465 pages from October 2019. However, this is solely due to the formatting.
- The 418 paragraphs have remained unchanged in terms of number and headings.
- The majority of the guide is unchanged.
Only the digital documentation has been strengthened - in line with the requirements of the Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230, which is to be applied from January 20, 2027.
The following paragraphs have undergone major changes:
- §255 The form of instructions
- §261 Inclusion of the EC Declaration of Conformity in the instructions
- §384 The Declaration of Incorporation of partly completed machinery
- §390 Assembly instructions for partly completed machinery
Minor changes can be found in other paragraphs where there is a connection with the documentation.
