EU: Cybersecurity – NIS 2 directive for essential and key facilities

Text approved by Parliament

The EU plans to increase its cyber resilience by updating the Network and Information Security (NIS) Directive. Expanding the scope of the proposed NIS 2 Directive, which will require more companies and sectors to take consistent action, should help raise the level of cybersecurity in the EU in the longer term.

On Thursday, November 10, 2022, the text was adopted by the Parliament with a whopping 144 recitals and now awaits adoption by the Council before it can be published in the Official Journal of the EU.
