On July 30, 2021, Decision No. 105 of July 27, 2021, approving the draft TR EAWU "On the safety of high-voltage equipment" was published and entered into force immediately. The draft is now under consideration by the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission for final approval.
High-voltage equipment/installations intended for the generation, conversion and distribution or transmission of electricity fall within the scope of the Technical Regulation:
- Circuit breakers, including switch disconnectors;
- Insulators;
- Cables, including cable sets and insulated power cables;
- Complete switchgear;
- Complete transformer stations;
- Capacitors;
- Electrical rotating machinery;
- Non-linear surge protection devices;
- Fuses;
- Semiconductor power converters;
- Protective conductors;
- Disconnectors, earthing switches and short-circuit switches with actuating elements;
- electrical reactors;
- High voltage resistors;
- Voltage, current and power transformers.
According to the requirements, a declaration of conformity must be submitted for high-voltage equipment/installations before they are placed on the market. In all cases, the declaration of conformity is based on the test results from an accredited testing laboratory.
However, if high-voltage equipment/plants are not manufactured according to the standards included in the list of the Technical Regulation (the list is currently under development), the mandatory certification takes the place of the declaration of conformity.
The Eurasian Economic Union Technical Regulation "On the Safety of High Voltage Equipment" is scheduled to enter into force on July 1, 2024.
